With October 23, 2014, Adobe started announcing their significant new versions for the software industry. Not only have they been rereleased with numerous new features, but many of them have also been enhanced.
In this post, I will give you some of the details of the announcements with the hope that you can get more use from the new updates. This post will also include general discussion of new features and enhancements that were announced, but I will not be giving you a full review of the new features just yet.
Only last week I was going through the complete manual installed on my build laptop, seeking any little bit of information that I could learn about the new software. I opened software 6.7 MB to find some help to barely understand a word of it. Lucky for me, I found a blog about it, and what a blog! And, guess what? But for professional photographers that do more than just retouching photos, cutting and pasting images to order, or delivering a final edit, the tools are a dream. Lightroom has continued to be a dominant player in this area for years now and, with Lightroom 6 and Bridge 5, the two most popular image management applications in the industry have lived up to expectations.
It’s not all glamourous and new features for Photoshop, however, as the neat-o new Antichrist Anti-aliasing filter (Free : Creative Cloud) meant I could spend less valuable time on manual mode and more on my photography.
That said, the three most important features that are missing from the latest versions are a more powerful, faster lens profile system, the removal of their optional membership to Adobe’s Shared Links program, and cross-format Super Resolves. All of these options were withdrawn from the latest version due to the legally dubious maintenance terms – and for Adobe it’s just as easy to look the other way and keep on selling subscriptions.
